Introducing Professor Mahmood Saatchi
(Compiler and Producer of Multiple Factor Theory of Productivity)

In September 2004 and with a rank of professorship (level 28), Mahmood Saatchi on his own wish and for the sake of vast introduction of Multiple Factor Theory of Productivity to the managers, attained the honor of retirement, however he is still involved in teaching postgraduate courses in universities.on April 1941, he was born in the city of Hamedan and spent part of his elementary schooling in the same city at Nosrat School and then, along with his family, he moved to Tehran and finished the rest of his elementary years in tehran. In 1961, he received his high school diploma from Meraat High School; in 1965, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts and in 1968 his Master of Arts in social sciences from Tehran university. During 1965-66, part of his military service took place at Piadeh Shiraz College and the remaining part in testing section (as an officer) at the Air Force Academy in Tehran.
In 1967, Mahmood Saatchi was employed by the Organization of Employment and Administrative Affair .As a senior expert, he was appointed to the position of Assistant director in the testing department of that organization. During this time, and benefiting from the experiences that resulted from hundreds sessions of individual and group employment interviews, he wrote and published his first book titled employment interview in Farsi language. In 1969, he began to teach General Psychology at the Grand College of Literature and Foreign Languages. At the same time, he extracted and translated "Principles of psychology" (written by Norman L. Munn). In 1974, this book was published in two volumes and became one of the best selling and most reliable reference book in psychology in Iran. In 1974, he received his Ph.D.degree in Industrial Psychology from Allahabad University (in India) and transferred to the State Management Training Center .There, he was the lecturer of psychology and also; superintendent of publication and translation secthion., manager of the research and studies affairs, supervisor of a M.A.cource (management of training) and in 1974 too, he became the Supervisor of State Management Training Center.
Throughout 1974-1984, Mahmood Saatchi was the inner-manager of Administrative Techniques Magazine and the Office Chief of Administrative Society of Iran. Thereafter, he had a share in the publication of Today`s Management Quarterly. In 1978, with an invitation from the United Nations, he went to England and visited the management training centers and participated in monthly course designed for super managers in Henly On Tames College in London. In 1979 he was elected as an honorary member of the National Committee of UNESCO in Iran, and while cooperating in the arrangements of "World-wide year of children", he began his radio weekly lectures from for the Iranian families. In 1981, he joined the Academy Association of Commercial and Administrative Sciences, then transfered to Department of Clinical Psychology (Allameh Tabatabaee University ).In 1999, he was transferred to the Department of State Management Group of the same university. In these departments, first he was teaching psychotherapy (theory and application), psychopathology and mental health, and then, Work Psychology, Managerial Psychology, Advanced Organizational Behavior, Seminar on Behavioral Problems, …
Since 1978, he has been continuing his cooperation with different radio and television networks, where in connection with various topics of Industrial, Organizational and Clinical psychology, many of his specialized interviews have been broadcasted. From 1974 to 2011, Mahmood Saatchi has arranged more than 2400 training workshops for the managers in Iran. In these workshops, he has been able to familiarize thousands of managers and experts with various dimensions of Productivity Psychology. Since 1974,he tried to find answers for his questions such as; "Why the level of national productivity is low in many countries?"; "Why in certain periods of history, ancient nations such as Iran, Greece, Rome, Egypt and… rose to prominence and then they declined to a point where, now they are not considered to be among the most developed countries?". Randomly, he read Angus Madison's book, titled “Stages of capitalism in the world” and especially his viewpoint that says; “rise and fall of nations relates to the increase and decrease of their national productivity”. Mahmood Saatchi too, tried to identify the factors and obstacles of human resources and organizational productivity.
At that time, he had arranged more than 1450 training workshops for 45000 managers of state organizations and private sections in Iran. Then, he studied each workshop's reports and found the answers for his key questions, i.e.;(1)What are organization's main aims?",(2) “What are the manager's problems/obstacles to reach the optimal levels of organizational productivity, and (3) What are the available and practical solutions to resolve each problem/obstacle?”. After careful consideration of 9000 team work reports, he noticed that all the factors and obstacles of human productivity, could be categorized as:(1) six essential intra-organizational factors;(2) thirteen supplementary intra-organizational factors and also (3) thirteen extra-organizational factors. He named this paradigm as; "the systematic model of selection and effect5ive utilization of human resources in organization". Based on this paradigm, he introduced; "Saatchi's Multiple Factor Theory of Productivity" (SMFTP). On the bases of his theory and its related paradigm , he wrote a book and named it; “Productivity Psychology” .
In the last four decades, being active in managers training, designing and operating researches, and conducting thousands counseling sessions for individuals, families and managers, Mahmood Saatchi concluded that; "national productivity would rise when organizations of a country reach higher levels of productivity". From then on, he has geared his activities toward the introduction of such paradigm and theory to the country’s managers and also to the students of psychology, sociology, management, industrial engineering, etc. Also, he is Editor-In-Chief of "Journal of Psychological Researches" (Islamic Azad University, Central Tehran Branch). In the recent years, he organizes his viewpoints in the realm of his theory(MFTP) and updates it's related paradigm. So, he has endeavored to present such Theory and Paradigm to thousands of managers in organizations and many students in universities.
Mahmood Saatchi believes that:
“A great part of our country’s budget is provided through the selling of exhaustible resources. On this basis, if our nation wants to be victorious in the economic war of the the twenty first century and the world-wide liberated economy, and reach its economic, industrial, sociological, cultural, and moral ideals and as a result, be ranked among the independent, free and respected country , should emphasis on organizations managers .managers should know how to select personnel scientifically, train employees effectively, evaluate their performance scientifically and utilize them properly. Doing so strategically, we can solve management and leadership crises in various organizations of the country. Moreover, with; firm belief, use of expenditure and sufficient time, systematic and uninterrupted effort, apply super-leadership techniques to increase the national productivity. Doing so, the nation may not miss the golden opportunities to actualize our ideals”. With the execution of these fundamental activities a nation will be able to cross over the crisis phase of management in organizations, and with familiarization of all managers with the concept of super-leadership, we can be hopeful to pass through the selling stage of exhaustible subterranean resources and like the developed countries of the world, reach the stage of “Idea Selling”. In this manner, occupational productivity of the employee, productivity of the organizations and thereby, national productivity of our country will increase to the optimal extent similar to countries like South Korea, Japan, Germany, etc. Furthermore, people of this ancient or traditional country won’t miss the golden opportunities of the present time that they have at their disposal in order to make such goals and ideals a reality....
